yay. we can finally discuss it.

i knew sam was gonna try to kill crowley as soon as he handed over the colt, and i knew it would be empty. predictable. Dean, not so good with the comebacks sometimes.

so jo and ellen turned out to be the "fan favorites" that ended up biting the dust. not surprised. nor am i surprised that the colt didn't kill lucifer. we do have 12 more episodes left in the season. as much as i disliked jo, it was sad the way it all went down. at least she died before being blown up. unlike ellen.

what was the point of taking the picture if bobby was just gonna burn it?

overall, loved the episode. and then i saw the date of the next new episode. ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME?! JANUARY 21st?! ARE...YOU...KIDDING...ME?! that's over 2 months away. oh, the agony. i'm sure you can tell i'm not too happy about that. :(

and when bobby burned it... i also don't know why... Oo good question.

haha how Lucifer took the shot easy...

i really really hope he's gonna die!!!
i want this story to have an Happy end...

I really enjoyed the episode overall. I was sorry to see Jo and Ellen bite it but it was well done and in character and their sacrifice hopefully won't be in vain.

I only have one little nitpick - I think Lucifer would have killed Dean as soon as he had the chance. If he killed Michaels vessel it would have paved the way for his unopposed victory in the Apocalypse.

I didn't think the colt would kill Lucifer but he did yell OUCh pretty loudly  Since it did seem to hurt him I wish Sam had emptied the colt into Lucifer regardless... it might have interrupted the ceremony long enough to mess it up? I thought Castiel might have had some plan at the end but I think he was just trying to get Sam and Dean out alive at that point.

It seems all my favorite shows are taking their hiatus right now until early next year. I'm totally bummed about that. :x

At least we got a good episode to watch before the break to tide us all over. :-)

Why did Bobby burn the photograph ...
Zac and I talked about this. I was like "Nooooo" when Bobby threw it in the fire, but Zac pointed out to me that perhaps it was the closest thing they could have to a burial ..... it was a Farewell guesture. I think he may well be right, trust a 14 year old to point out the obvious :D
We did laugh when the photo was taken, Bobby had made that moment deflating comment about last days on earth .... right before the flash ... and all their faces looked so glum apart from Cas who's standing there with his head held high and all proud looking :D

Jo was a brave warrior at the end. She went back to help Dean .... and paid the ultimate sacrifice. Dean is what stands between Lucifer and the end of our World. Thanks to Jo he's still standing ....
I loved the moment between Dean and Jo at the refridgerator. All close up angles and intense looks .... how could any woman let Dean get that close ...... and say "no" "NOOOOOO?????" *yeah right* ...... but there was something different about Jo in this episode. She'd grown up, not a girl anymore, a woman. Dean could see it too. When they said goodbye to Jo and Ellen in the store *gulps* ...... I'm not ashamed to admit that I had tears running down my face. Ellen and Jo Harvel ...... May they Rest In Peace :hb:

Good point Brad made. Lucifer missing his oportunity to kill Dean. However, Ben Edlund wrote this episode and he is highly esteemed in my eyes. I don't think either Ben or Kripke have made a boob here, they will have their reasons .... we just have to wait ....... two freakin' months to find out what they are!!!!!

I thought this was an all round awesome episode. Everone who was yearning for some 'old style' Supernatural ... you guys certainly got your wishes granted :thumb:
One huge big fact did jump up and bite me on my arse tho ... with the event of Jo and Ellen's demise, with Lucifer's uprising 'Death' ceremony ... the very implication of things that are comming at us with the speed of a freight train ..... the sickening realisation that it's all comming to an end. Supernatural. It's comming to an end. 21st January, what's that, 9 week? In a way, I embrace this hiatus. It gives us time to watch some previous episodes, remember and rejoice ..... and prepare our selves. Added to that, it prolongs the inevitable ....... :grp1:

IMO, this was the best episode of season 5 so far by a wide margin. It was great, and yes, I don't recall ever crying during en episode of SN, but I cried during the scenes when Jo was dying. There was great acting there. I was touched and really sorry for Jo and Ellen.

And I don't think it was a mistake that Lucifer didn't take the opportunity to kill Michael's vessel. Perhaps he really does want the confrontation with Michael, to be the one who kicks Michael's ass this time around, to completely win. I think maybe to Lucifer, this is as much as if not more important than bringing on the apocalypse. He wants to rid the earth of humanity, yes, but I think mostly he wants to prove his point to the other angels and ultimately to God, and it all starts with Michael, his big brother. After all, if he succeeds, he'll want to be reunited with all the angels as a big family. So, I think to Lucifer, the apocalypse is not his goal, but a means to a more important end, to live like they did before humanity was created, and for that he needs to make peace with Michael and the other angels.

if i were jo and Dean was giving me the "last day on earth" speech, screw self-respect, i would've taken Dean up on the offer. :p i mean, it literally was the last day on earth for her. she missed out. her loss.

Ellemsa .... As I said previously, I also think that there is a reason why Lucifer did not kill Michaels vessel while he had the chance, but I never considered that angle, that Lucifer's ultimate goal was to return to Heaven and be reunited with his family ..... that would certainly explain his contempt for the Demons, and why he tried to pursuade Cas to join him. When 'Gabriel'/The Trickster told Dean and Sam that their destiny had been fortold eons ago, that it was as unavoidable as the sun comming up ..... it did occur to me that perhaps Michael and Lucifer's destiny was as equally set in stone, that their battle was just as unavoidable .... but your words and logic sound much better than mine 8)
In the scene between Castiel and Lucifer, Lucifer asks Cas to join with him .... and explains his reasoning ... Castiel tells him he'd rather die first. At which Lucifer replies "Yes, I suppose you will" ... and he looks almost appologetic. I found that scene and conversation extremely disturbing. This 'cloud-hoppin-pansy' ...... ....... has become a firm favorite of mine. The implication that Cas is going to die ......... it made my blood run cold. :( Lucifer seems very sure of his timeline ... he seems certain that Sam will eventually say "Yes" ... and that it will happen in Detroit, in about 6 months time. Ironically enough, that co-insides with the end of the Season ..... is that a hidden message, or hint of what the end will culminate in? Oh Bloody Hell ...... :thud:
And talking about Cas, when he had hold of Meg inside the circle of fire, just before he made her his own personal bridge ... for just one second ...... one incy-wincy second.....it looked as tho he was going to kiss her. WTH??? I don't think I imagined that, Giddy agrees with me...... P.Lease .... Eric .... please don't turn Castiel into a Demon-lovin' douche-bag!!!!

Stef ...... hahahahahahaah your post really made me chuckle !!!! Trust you and yeah, screw self respect

Oh and Elle, btw, I'm not sure I believe that you have never cried at a Supernatural Epi before now .... not even when Dean was talking about his time in Hell? Or when Sam had to kill Maddison?? *shakes head with an indulging smile* Naaaaahhh ;-)

Now, that you mention it, I remember crying when Sam had to kill Maddison, that was really poignant too, but not when Dean was talking about his time in hell, no.

Glad to hear that Ellemsa .... I never had you down as a 'black-heart'
and the thing is, Dean, when he gets emotional .... he does it so beautifully. There's something heartrending about seeing a grown man cry. When it's Dean Winchester ...... it simply breaks my heart.

I think that the reason Ellen & Jo got to me so much was because as a Mother myself, for me, Ellen refused to abandon her child in her darkest hour .... it touched a cord in me, in the most primal sense. Sam Ferris played the character to perfection, an incredible performance .... and when the Hell Hound's breath blew her hair ... OMG my own hair stood on end!! Gripping stuff :thumb:

This was an awesome episode but definitely not the first time I have cried over an episode too many to count. I think the reason why Lucifier will not kill Dean because he has always said to Sam that he will never trick or lie to Sam and he really wants to defeat Michael smelling like roses which the Angels up until now have been pretty much playing dirty tricks with both Dean and Sam. If Lucifier kills Dean, Sam will never say yes to him which may leave an opening for Michael to persuade Sam to become his vessel to get venegence for taking Dean.
I really loved how this episode showed how Jo had grown with knowledge and embraced the hunting life, the way Dean held her face and then kissed her with such emotion and a sense of pride :-(
