yeeeaaah...the convention i went to was absolutely NOTHING like that. that one "sam's" emf was stupidly funny-looking.

all the ugly guys pretending to be Dean and sam, with their stupid deep voices, was so annoying.

Dean's got a new watch. hm.

after all...that...i wasn't really feeling this episode. i don't know why. i don't think i'm over the show, maybe just the stand-alones? i want the show to get back to the story-line. i want scary episodes!

Well, I liked it. I think there were better episodes but it was okay, one of the emotional ones. The scenes with Becky and the other fans were kinda embarassing, but funny.
It needs a while to make me watch it again, though... 8)

Elizabeth! Thats what i wanted to ask.... The Girl at the Promo, was that Jo?? If it was her... then GOSH i knew it!! and i think the kiss kinda looked really emotional... ;-) aw like every Friday I can't wait for the next episode!!! :wack: :hb:

The episode did air in its usual time on Thursday, maybe not in your location, but in general it did. So this topic does belong here.

On one hand I agree with you guys, I keep wondering when we are going to get back to the business at hand .... erm..... APPOCOLIPS (Damn it, I can never spell that word!! ) ......
But as a 'stand-alone' ..... oh come on!!! It was freakin' brilliant!!! It was just soooo funny, and am I wrong but was the whole episode designed to take yet another poke at us .... the Fans??!!! We're not that bad ..... are we??????? *cringes at the thought*

I feel that this season has taken a different turn, and I can't see how Kripke & Co are going to get it back on track .... don't get me wrong, I'm lovin' it, pretty much every time, a couple of exceptions this time round, but not enough to make me turn away ..... perhaps the re-introduction of the Colt is the pinnacle here, the pivot stick so to speak.
I guess we''ll have to wait and see .......... :grp1:

For the most part I really liked this episode. I agree with Lynda that this season has taken a strange turn... the focus of the show has strayed from the major story arc a bit far. With the Apocalypse looming on the horizon it seems strange to waste time on an episode like this one, but at the same time I really enjoyed the 'Supernatural Convention.' Even if Kripke was poking fun at the fans (i.e. us :-) ) you have to admit that he nailed most of the stereotypes dead on.

The one thing I think was really important that came out of this episode was near the end when Dean got an eye opener from the 'convention Dean' about missing the point of why the fans wanted to emulate Sam and Dean. This is paraphrasing because I didn't write it down and I've only watched the episode once so far... but when he said " you get to wake up every day and save the world, and to have a brother that would die for you... who wouldn't want that?" That caused the proverbial Dean eyebrow raise that happens when a light bulb goes off in his head. Dean and Sam are so immersed in being 'Hunters' that I think Dean always tends to see the downside of the life he and his family have chosen. It takes an outsider to make him see his life from a different perspective. And besides we all know Dean isn't a very deep intellectual kind of guy and he shy's away from emotional discussions like the plague.

My point is that by Dean seeing his life from a different perspective, I think it will reinforce the brotherly bond between he and Sam. I think that exerting his 'free will' and going against the wishes of the angels is what is going to save the Winchesters and the world and somehow stave off the Apocalypse in a way the angels can't predict.

Ok... enough over analyzing

the demographics were so wrong. at least the one i went to, the females outnumbered the guys. by alot. there were only a couple guys. and they weren't dressed as Dean or sam. :p

Brad, I think you are absolutely right ..... Satan as himself is dangerous enough, I mean, when a lion roars you are under no misguided conceptions ... he is what he is! A dangerous lion .... but when he comes at you under a different guise .... he is very hard to spot. A wolf in sheeps clothing. That makes him doubly dangerous. It would take an extremely discerning spirit to spot him ..... Some people have exceptional intuition, but according to the bible the true Discernable Spirit is someone who is spoken to by God Himself .... and knows it. Is Dean just acting on instinct regarding his 'exerting free will' choice .... as you put it? Or is he in fact, unbeknown to him, following a 'Higher Order'? Dean doesn't truly believe in God, so would he recognise the difference?
Uriel called the human race 'mud monkeys' .... I think that Zacharia is severely underestimating the indominateble human spirit, he also underestimates Dean.
If the Trickster really has been 'Gabriel' all this time ..... (what a twist!) how do we know that Angels such as Zacharia ... and previously Uriel .... aren't batting for the other side too? Can an Angel be 'possessed'? I don't know about that, but they can certainly be swayed .... Lucifer was.
Perhaps those responsible for bringing about the Apocalypse would have a better chance of being successful had they chosen different roles for Sam and Dean. Sam has never had any problem accepting the existance of Angels and God .... in fact he welcomed that information .... but Dean always looks for the negative, the tarnished side to the coin. His dark outlook and self-doubt might have made for a more appropriate 'meat suit' for Satan. But then again, perhaps not .... in spite of everything that has been thrown at him ... and he has been tested beyond imaginings .... he is still standing in the face of adversity. A true Hero.

So there was one thing I was curious about ever since this episode aired, when they were quoting Asylum and Hunted, and Becky mentioning Time Is On My Side. I rewatched the scene at the beginning of The Monster at the End of This Book when they list the book titles on Sam's computer and Hunted and Time Is On My Side aren't listed. Looks like they made a mistake. I didn't watch the scene with Dean and Sam talking to that lady looking for Carver Edlund so I don't know if the books were on here shelf. I just thought I'd point that out.
